Introduction
In May 1982, Hainan Land Reclamation Hospital (the predecessor of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Hainan Medical University) took the lead in carrying out the first allogeneic kidney transplantation on the island. The hospital organ transplant medicine was born. After several generations of organ transplant people's unremitting efforts, especially after the establishment of the Hainan Province, the hospital's kidney transplantation work has made great progress. In 2008, an independent kidney transplantation group was established in the urology department, forming the prototype of the organ transplantation department. In the same year, the hospital carried out the second Mutual Kidney Transplantation in China and succeeded, which contribute to the Ministry of Health to reinterpret the "Regulations on Human Organ Transplantation",the "cross-supply of kidneys" will no longer violate the regulations, and make an important contribution to promote the organ transplantation in China.
In 2008, it led the establishment of the Hainan Provincial Medical Association Organ Transplantation Professional Committee and became the chairman of the committee. In 2010, the hospital obtained the national kidney transplant qualification and became one of the first 163 units approved for human organ transplantation in China. The preparatory work for DD began in September 2011, and in 2014, it was approved by the National Health and Family Planning Commission to carry out DD organ donation.
In 2017, Hainan Medical University officially approved the establishment of the “The Transplantation Institution of Hainan Medical University”, which was divided into the basic department and the clinical department.
On April 25, 2018, the former Vice-Minister of Health, Professor Huang Jiefu, Chairman of the Chinese Human Organ Donation and Transplantation Committee, Guo Yanhong, Deputy Director of the National Health and Wellness Committee, and the famous liver transplantation expert Zheng Shusen, came to the hospital to guide organ transplantation. It is proposed that the hospital should make full use of Hainan's excellent climatic conditions, regional and status advantages, and carry out transplanting organs such as heart, lung, liver, pancreas and kidney, and strive to become a training base for transplanting medical talents in the “Belt and Road”.
On July 31, 2018, the Organ Transplantation Department came into being, with 34 beds (including 8 ICU beds), 8 transplantation experts, 4 anesthesiologists, 2 intensive care experts, and 4 special cardiopulmonary transplant experts. There are 4 organ transplantation operation room; 2 DD organ obtained operation room; 2 ECMO , HLA tissue matching, CDC, PRA, DSA detection and FK506 and CsA drug concentration detection equipment. The Organ Transplantation Technology Clinical Use Ethics Committee and the Human Organs Acquisition Organization (OPO) operate independently. Professional tools such as potential donors and human organ transport helicopters and on-site organs for surgical special vehicles.
