INTRODUCTION

The Second Affiliated Hospital of Hainan Medical University was founded in 1952, have general hospital, Donghu Branch and Wushi Branch , cover over an area of 456,000 square meters.The total number of beds in the General Hospital is 2,100, with 2,612 employees, including 2,214 professional and technical personnel, 295 with deputy and above titles, and 261 with postgraduate degree. There are 18 special State experts and provincial experts , 1 high-level leading talent and 4 high-level talents in Hainan Province, 1 direct contact key expert to the central government, 3 direct contact experts from the provincial party committee and the provincial government, 1 for "515 talent project” in Hainan Province. The Second Affiliated Hospital of HaiNan Medical University(“SHHMU”), founded in 1952, is a large comprehensive Grade A Class III hospital integrating medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, rehabilitation, and preventive healthcare.

SHHMU operates across three sites: the main campus, Donghu Branch, and Wushi Branch, covering a total area of 644.7 acres. The main campus features a pleasant environment with lush greenery, spacious and tidy outpatient and inpatient halls. With a licensed capacity of 2,500 beds, the hospital comprises 69 clinical departments and 8 medical technology departments, employing over 3,000 staff members.

Guided by the development strategy of "One Department, Two Institutes, Four Hospitals, and Four Centers," the hospital is committed to advancing the development of disciplinary clusters. SHHMU is distinguished by its prominent medical specialties, achieving leading positions in Hainan and advanced levels nationally in areas such as solid organ transplantation and combined transplantation, comprehensive treatment of cardiac and great vessel diseases, emergency and critical care rescue, comprehensive management of neurological diseases, advanced diagnosis and treatment of tumors, diagnosis and treatment of tropical diseases and multidrug-resistant tuberculosis, enhanced recovery after surgery, and response to public health emergencies. It is equipped with large-scale, high-end medical devices including the world-leading MRI-guided linear accelerator, PET/MR, 3.0T/1.5T MRI, ultra-high-end 256-slice gemstone CT, dual-plate suspended DSA, and ECMO.

SHHMU undertakes the education and training of undergraduates, master's students, doctoral candidates, and international students for Hainan Medical University. It is also among the first national standardized residency training bases and a national standardized general practitioner training base.
