The Stomatology Center of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Hainan Medical University has two campuses, namely the General Hospital and the Donghu Campus, with a total area of 2,000 square meters and 50 treatment chairs. It serves as a national standardized training base for general stomatology, a member unit of the Stomatology General Alliance of Shanghai Ninth People's Hospital Group, and a member unit of the National Stomatology Center Alliance (including alliances for general stomatology, preventive stomatology, and oral mucosa specialty). It is a comprehensive oral diagnosis and treatment department integrating medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, and prevention.
Currently, the center has 30 medical staff, including 6 with senior professional titles, and over 43% of the staff hold master's or doctoral degrees, forming a well-structured personnel echelon.
The center is equipped with advanced equipment such as KaVo CBCT, 3Shape digital intraoral scanner, ZEISS dental operating microscope, ultrasonic bone knife, Swedish Nobel dental implant system, and South Korean Dentium dental implant system.
The Stomatology Center has set up multiple subspecialties including endodontics, periodontology, orthodontics, implantology, oral mucosa, maxillofacial surgery, pediatric dentistry, and comprehensive stomatology. It carries out projects such as microscopic root canal treatment; high-difficulty full-mouth dental implantation with immediate loading; early correction of dentofacial deformities in children and orthodontic treatment for adults; prevention and treatment of dental diseases in children; and extraction of high-difficulty impacted teeth.
The center promotes multi-disciplinary joint diagnosis and treatment, providing patients with comprehensive and one-stop oral medical services. It strictly implements core medical systems, strengthens hospital infection prevention and control as well as patient safety management, and ensures standardized and safe diagnosis and treatment through oral quality control inspections and risk assessments, continuously improving medical service quality and patient satisfaction.
The Stomatology Center attaches great importance to scientific research and focuses on the frontier of prevention and treatment of oral diseases. In the past five years, the center has undertaken 4 national and provincial-level scientific research projects and published more than 57 papers.
Relying on the scientific research mutual promotion platform of Hainan Medical University, the center improves the team's innovation ability through academic lectures and scientific research guidance, promotes the in-depth integration of basic research and clinical practice, and achieves the integration of medical research and industry by advancing clinical innovation and the transformation of scientific research achievements.
The Stomatology Center undertakes the theoretical teaching and clinical teaching tasks for undergraduates and postgraduates majoring in stomatology at Hainan Medical University. It emphasizes the combination of clinical practice and theoretical knowledge to improve students' diagnosis and treatment skills. Meanwhile, as a standardized training base for general stomatology, it has built a multi-level teaching system.
By regularly holding oral academic lectures, difficult case discussions, and operation demonstrations, the center consolidates the basic clinical skills of medical staff, promotes their professional growth, and forms an integrated teaching model of "teaching, learning, research, and practice", providing professional talents for the field of stomatology.
