Obstetrics

The department of obstetrics is a provincial key clinical discipline and the Critical Maternal Rescue Center of Hainan Province. We are also responsible for teaching medical students and training of interns, residents, and other doctors from regional hospitals. It provide comprehensive specialist care for pregnant women. The Obstetrics Department consists of three clinical subspecialties, namely general obstetrics, maternal medicine and fetal medicine. General obstetric teams are responsible for serving low risk pregnant women. Maternal medicine team provides professional multi-disciplinary service for mothers with significant obstetric risk factors and various medical and surgical disorders. Fetal medicine team provides pre-pregnancy or prenatal counselling, prenatal screening. The department of obstetrics has a skilled, noble medical ethics, rigorous scholarship team of physicians, and now it have more than 50 faculty and stuff, 4 professors, 5 associate-professors and 4 attending physicians, among them 1 scholars with doctoral degree, 4 scholars with master degree, 2 master mentors. It have 60 in-patient beds, providing clinical service to over 60,000 outpatients and 4,000 inpatients annually. Being a referral center , obstetric department also receives more 100 high risk or complicated pregnant women from other hospitals. Our discipline has undertaken more than 10 national, provincial and ministerial research projects in recent five years.
