I. General Overview (Basic Department Information)
The International Medical Center was established in April 2024. Operating according to international standards with a high-level positioning, it provides premium services such as appointment-based consultations, high-end health check-ups, and inpatient care. The center aims to meet the diverse and personalized health needs of expatriates from Belt and Road countries, foreign nationals working, studying, and living in Hainan, as well as domestic clients with specific requirements.
The center is equipped with 68 patient beds (2 deluxe suites, 10 standard suites, and 56 single rooms). The environment is comfortable, spacious, bright, clean, and quiet. A dedicated examination area ensures convenience for patients, with the majority of examinations performed within the International Medical Center by senior physicians. Patients are accompanied by dedicated staff, bypassing queues for fast service. Inpatient meals are complimentary, featuring three nutritious, tasty, and varied daily meals with options for personal choice.
The center has signed agreements with commercial insurance providers for direct billing services, allowing patients to access various medical and nursing services without upfront payment. Currently, there are three signed commercial insurance partners (AIA, Taikang, and MSH). Partnerships are also under discussion with institutions including West China Hospital, Chengdu (at Boao Lecheng), Ruijin Hospital Hainan (affiliated with Shanghai Jiao Tong University), the Beijing Specialized, Refined, Characteristic, and Innovative Enterprises Chamber of Commerce, and Cigna CMCC Life Insurance Co., Ltd.
II. Medical Services
The medical team comprises the hospital's top experts, renowned for their extensive experience and skilled expertise. Outpatient specialist consultations strictly limit patient numbers to ensure thorough communication between each visitor and the specialist. Inpatients are primarily managed by senior physicians. The department conducts regular multi-specialty internal consultations and can promptly request authoritative expert consultations from across the hospital or organize hospital-wide multidisciplinary team (MDT) discussions as needed.
The nursing team consists of selected outstanding nurses who are highly skilled, attentive, proficient in foreign languages, and provide meticulous and considerate care. Follow-up for discharged patients is timely, with doctors establishing telephone and WeChat contact with patients (or their relatives). This allows patients to receive prompt professional guidance from their doctors in case of special circumstances after discharge.
In its first year of operation, the International Medical Center treated a total of 1,099 patient cases and generated revenue exceeding 12 million RMB. Patients spanned numerous disciplines including Internal Medicine, Surgery, Gynecology, Pediatrics, Ophthalmology, ENT, and Dermatology. Among these, 10 cases were foreign patients, originating from countries such as Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, South Africa, Russia, the United States, and Ireland.
III. Research Work
In 2025, the center signed a cooperative research project agreement with the "China Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics" titled "Research on the Construction of International Medical Centers (Departments) in Public Hospitals and the Innovative Development of Geriatric Medicine."
IV. Teaching Work
Doctors from various specialties and disciplines are actively engaged in relevant teaching and educational activities.
