Overview

Department Introduction I. Overview The inpatient department of our department has 43 beds. The outpatient department is equipped with an independent Hearing Center and an Otolaryngology Specialist Endoscopy Examination Room. There are 12 specialist physicians, including 2 chief physicians, 5 associate chief physicians, 5 attending physicians, 4 with master's degrees and 1 with a doctoral degree. There are 17 nurses in total, among whom 4 have associate senior titles and 7 have intermediate titles. II. Medical Service Work 1. Rhinology Comprehensive diagnosis and treatment of various rhinitis and sinusitis. Functional endoscopic sinus surgery. Endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy. Endoscopic resection of nasal and paranasal sinus tumors. Endoscopic repair of cerebrospinal fluid leakage. Endoscopic optic nerve decompression. Transnasal pituitary tumor resection (in collaboration with the Department of Neurosurgery). Radical surgery for nasal and paranasal sinus carcinoma. 2. Pharyngology and Laryngology Comprehensive diagnosis and treatment of various pharyngitis and laryngitis. Tonsil and adenoid surgery for children and adults (using plasma technology). Comprehensive diagnosis and treatment of OSAHS (Obstructive Sleep Apnea-Hypopnea Syndrome). Removal of foreign bodies from the trachea and esophagus. Microsurgery and laser surgery for benign and malignant laryngeal tumors. 3. Otology Surgical treatment of otitis media: various types of tympanoplasty and hearing reconstruction surgery (artificial ossicular hearing reconstruction surgery). Comprehensive diagnosis and treatment of various otitis media, tinnitus, deafness and vertigo. 4. Head and Neck Specialty Total laryngectomy for laryngeal cancer and hypopharyngeal cancer. Various types of partial laryngectomy for laryngeal cancer with laryngeal function preservation. Resection of benign and malignant tumors of the parotid gland and thyroid gland. Various types of neck lymph node dissection. Surgery for repairing large-area tissue defects after radical resection of head and neck tumors using multiple tissue flaps. 5. Outpatient Service Carries out various otolaryngology specialist endoscopy examinations, such as otoscopy, rhinoscopy, rigid laryngoscopy and fibrolaryngoscopy. Performs corresponding diagnostic and therapeutic operations under endoscopy, including microwave hemostasis, tumor biopsy, foreign body removal and post-endoscopic surgery management. The Hearing Center supports various hearing-related examinations, such as pure tone audiometry, acoustic immittance measurement, otoacoustic emission, auditory brainstem response and videonystagmography. III. Scientific Research Work All staff in the department actively participate in scientific research. The department holds 3 projects funded by the Hainan Natural Science Foundation and 3 projects funded by the Hainan Provincial Health Commission. A total of 2 SCI papers, 16 Chinese core journal papers and 20 statistical source journal papers have been published. IV. Teaching Work 1. Undergraduate and Junior College Teaching There are 12 teachers, 7 of whom have associate senior titles or above. Since 2015, the department has undertaken the teaching of theoretical courses and internship guidance for undergraduate, junior college and international classes of Hainan Medical University. 2. Postgraduate and Resident Standardized Training Teaching Since 2019, the department has obtained the qualification of an otolaryngology resident standardized training base. There are 2 postgraduate supervisors, who have trained 6 full-time master's degree students in clinical medicine and 1 student with equivalent academic qualifications so far. There are 7 standardized training supervisors, who have trained 6 social-recruited trainees so far. The department will focus on developing minimally invasive and intelligent surgical technologies, strengthening multi-disciplinary collaboration and improving the ability to treat complex cases. It will focus on scientific research directions such as head and neck tumors and deafness gene therapy, and strive to make breakthroughs in national-level projects.
