Overview

The Department of Nephrology, the Second Affiliated Hospital of Hainan Medical College, has been ranked as I type key discipline as well as Main Committee unit of Hainan Province. Also, as an institute with competency in clinical practice, basic research, and medical education, the Department is internationally recognized as the prevention and treatment of kidney disease. Introduction

The current director of the Department, a second-class Professor, doctoral mentor, leading talent of Hainan Province, winner of Hainan thousand talents program，is Professor Bing Li. Acquired MD from Niigata University in Japan in 2003, then worked there for two years.From 2008 to 2009, worked in the department of Nephrology of brightam and women's Hospital affiliated Harvard University.Many articles published in international arteriosclerosis journal ,such as Circulation, PNAS, Journal of American Society of Nephrology etal,accumulated IF more than 163. Ever presided over and undertook many scientific research projects,including 5 general projects of NSFC, "863"national subproject and "973"national subproject, Japan Society for the Promotion of Science(JSPS) research fund. Won the second prize of science and technology progress of Heilongjiang provincial government, three medical awards in Japan.

Clinical Services

The Department is composed of a Nephrology treatment area, a peritoneal dialysis center，a hemodialysis center, a nephrology laboratory，which is considered to be the most complete department in Hainan province at present. It has 120 beds (including 40 peritoneal dialysis beds), 70 hemodialysis machines, 1 CRRT machine and 7 APD machines. There are

more than 200 cases of catheterization for peritoneal dialysis ,300 cases of arteriovenous fistula annual. It ranks well among the Hainan institutes as regards the diagnosis and the treatment of chronic kidney disease, nephritic syndrome, IgA nephropathy, Lupus Nephritis, urinary infection, renal tubular interstitial disease, as well as hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis for the treatment of end stage renal disease (ESRD), etal. In addition, renal biopsy, internal jugular vein catheterization, peritoneal dialysis catheterization, arteriovenous fistula anastomosis are also lead the frontier in Hainan province .Among them, peritoneal dialysis is the advantage item , which was first carried out by chief Wenchen in Hainan in 1981, effectively treating acute and chronic renal failure and various drugs and toxicant.

Education

Since its establishment, the Department of Nephrology has sent 33 doctors and nurses to Zhongshan Medical University, the First Military Medical University of PLA, Beijing Medical University, 301 Hospital of PLA,etal for further study. In terms of scientific research and continuing education, the department has undertaken a number of provincial scientific research projects , and has won the Hainan science and Technology Progress Award many times. More than 300 publications have been published in national and provincial journals. In recent years, the department has successfully initiated provincial and national education projects, and annual academic conference of Nephrology in Hainan province successfully.

Through the experts effort over past 30 years ,the Nephrology Department has taken advantage in the medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, prevention renal diseases in Hainan Province. In future, we will continue to make great effort to innovate, master more professional medical technology , and strive to become first-class Nephrology team in Hainan Province.

Service

In March 1981, the Department of Nephrology pioneered peritoneal dialysis treatment in Hainan, effectively treating patients with acute and chronic renal failure and various drugs and toxic poisoning, and effectively carried out kidney transplantation with urology. In May 1983, it took the lead in hemodialysis therapy in Hainan Province. In 1984 and 1986, it developed kidney disease detection technology and urinary red blood cell phase diagnosis technology. In September 1989, it was the first to develop a percutaneous renal biopsy diagnostic technique in Hainan Province. The Department of Nephrology was identified by the hospital in 1996 as a key specialist. In 1998, it was assessed by the Hainan Health Department as the Advantages Specialist of the Five-Year Plan for Medical and Health Technology Development in Hainan Province. In June 2011, it was assessed by the Ministry of Health as the cultivation unit of the Peritoneal Dialysis Training Demonstration Center. In March 2013, it was appraised by the Ministry of Health of the People's Republic of China as the blood purification training base of the county-level hospitals. In May 2016, it was rated as National Drugs Clinical testing organization.

Since the establishment of the Department of Nephrology, 33 doctors and nurses have been sent to Zhongshan University of Medical Sciences, the First Military Medical University of PLA, Beijing Medical University, the People's Liberation Army 301 Hospital and other national key institutions for further study, so that the theoretical and technical level of renal medicine medical staff has significantly improved.

It has accumulated rich experience in the clinical, pathological and nursing aspects of kidney disease, and the quality of medical care has been significantly improved. Dialysis patients have the longest survival period in the province (up to 16 years for peritoneal dialysis and up to 26 years for hemodialysis).

The Department has 70 sets of hemodialysis machines, 2 sets of CRRT machines, and 6 sets of automated peritoneal dialysis machines. It has established a system of integrated treatment for patients with renal failure.

Research

After more than 30 years of hard work, the Department of Nephrology has established a provincial specialty, the Ministry of Health. The dialysis training demonstration center cultivating unit, the blood purification training base of the national county hospital of the Ministry of Health, and the national drug clinical testing institution have become an important base for medical treatment, teaching, research, prevention and health care of kidney diseases in Hainan Province.

In the blood purification pathway, peritoneal dialysis technology is at the leading level in the province. It was awarded the second prize of Hainan Science and Technology Progress Award, two third prizes and three fourth prizes. More than 300 publications have been published in national and provincial publications. It has long been responsible for the internships of institutions such as Hainan Medical University and the clinical teaching of advanced students in primary hospitals. In recent years, the department successfully declared and organized 7 provincial-level continuing education projects. 3 projects at the grassroots level of the Hainan Provincial Health Planning Commission were successfully completed.

Clinical Service

The department treats glomerulonephritis and tubulointerstitial disease caused by various causes, and carries out clinical and pathological diagnosis of primary and secondary glomerular diseases all the year round, especially the combination of traditional Chinese and western medicine is used for glomerular diseases: such as lupus nephritis, hypertensive nephropathy, diabetic nephropathy, purpuric nephritis, and acute and cchronic renal failure caused by various causes, complicated urinary tract infection, refractory nephrotic syndrome, etc. , can achieve better results.

Carry out peritoneal dialysis and hemodialysis treatment programs to provide effective treatment for emergency treatment of patients with acute and chronic renal failure, drugs, toxicosis and multiple organ failure. Conventional continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) provides interdisciplinary rescue treatment for patients with multiple organ and multiple systemic failure, effectively improving the success rate of critically ill patients. In particular, peritoneal dialysis treatment programs: provide safe and effective for patients who are not suitable for hemodialysis treatment, patients with pediatric renal failure, renal failure patients with unstable cardiovascular function, remote mountainous areas, and renal failure patients far away from hemodialysis medical sites. The family dialysis treatment technology has indeed alleviated the problem of difficult patients and expensive medical treatment for patients with renal failure.
